Stéphane de Navacelle presented the Sapin 2 law and an overview of the fight against corruption in France to law students at Cornell University, at the invitation of Daniel R. Alonso (VedderPrice).
Issues addressed, contrasting with other comparable legislation such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act, included an overview of the French framework for combating corruption, in particular:
- Sapin II law
- French Anticorruption Agency (AFA)
- Waserman law
- CJIP (French-DPA)
Lawyers have a specific role in implementing compliance programs and conducting internal investigations, a role Stéphane de Navacelle already explored in particular for the President of the Paris Bar in 2019, and more recently in the report by the Club des Juristes on internal investigations (2025).
