The Prudential Control and Resolution Authority presents its work program for 2025
The Prudential Control and Resolution Authority (ACPR) has published its work program for 2025, and plans to step up its supervisory efforts in the face of evolving risks in order to ensure the soundness of the financial sector in an uncertain political, economic and financial environment. In particular, the ACPR wants to consolidate supervision of misconduct risks and AML/CFT, especially in decentralized finance and crypto-assets. Operational resilience – The AMF applies the Joint Guidelines on the oversight cooperation and information exchange under the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA)
The DORA regulation, which aims “to strengthen the digital resilience of financial entities to risks associated with critical ICT third-party service providers” has been applied since 17 January 2025. Pursuant to article 32(7) of the regulation, the European supervisory authorities (ESA) provided the cooperative framework between them and national authorities. Accordingly, the AMF announced, “that it will comply with these guidelines” and that it “will incorporate these new measures into its supervisory practices, working closely with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the other NCAs.” > Read article

In the context of the AI World Summit to be held in Paris in February, the EESC’s temporary committee has presented its recommendations for the ethical and sustainable deployment of AI promoting social dialogue in companies and training for citizens and public officials. It insists on compatibility with planetary limits, social progress and respect for fundamental rights. Human support in public services must be maintained, and every citizen must be able to choose whether or not to use AI, without any constraints. Finally, the Commission is calling for greater data transparency and stronger European regulations to clarify the protection of personal data in accordance with the GDPR. > Read article
Prosecutors implicated by Éric Dupond-Moretti: French State has been ordered to pay damages
On Thursday 16 January, the French State was ordered to pay damages to two prosecutors from the French National Financial Prosecutor’s Office against whom the former Minister of Justice, Éric Dupond-Moretti, had requested the opening of an administrative investigation, “while he had differences of opinion with them when he was a lawyer.” The two prosecutors had been named publicly in a press release from the Ministry of Justice and during “public statements made by the Minister of Justice questioning their professional ethics.” The former Minister of Justice, who was in a conflict of interest, was not found guilty of these acts due to a lack of intent. > Read article

The United States withdraws from the Paris Agreement, a major blow to international climate policy
The new President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed a decree withdrawing the United States from the Paris Agreement signed in 2015. This withdrawal had already been made during his first term in office in 2017. He justifies this decision in terms of his energy policy and wishes to relaunch oil and gas exploitation in the United States. Withdrawing from the Paris Agreement could have a “domino effect with countries like Argentina and Russia also leaving the Paris Agreement. This would be a real fracture in international cooperation and the universalism on which the Paris Agreement is built.” > Read article
